My girlfriend and I were in the mood for a good hike this weekend. The sound of cold fresh air with the possibility of some white stuff still being around sounded magical. With that in mind we decided around 9:30am that we would head to the Poconos today.
After going through the tunnel you could see signs of slight snow on the mountain tops, so we kept going. Not much further it was more pronounced and we knew the upcoming few miles would be a good place to venture into some state parks. Upon arriving there was a still a good few inches of snow packed on the ground.
We geared up and disappeared onto a trail. The whole thing took about 2 hours. There were multiple trails to take and tons alternate directions that all would meet up with another. After we arrived back at the car we had some time left before we needed to head home. So I grabbed the 2 weight rod and quickly strung it up. Darted back towards one of the waters about 50 yards into the tree line and searched for a good hole.
I figured I had about 20 minutes or so to get some fish out of this weekends “hiking only” event. Within those 20 minutes I missed what appeared to be a Brown, along with landing two Brookies. All in all I couldn’t of asked for more. It was a successful and enjoyful day. I’ll be back though, to focus on fishing, and find more of these beauties to gaze upon.
