It seems like it hasn’t rained for a while around here. Maybe i’ve just been too focused on all the dumb stockies since the season started. The dog had me awake at 3AM as she was hocking up a nice pile of digested dog food for me to clean up. I made the mistake of going on my phone at that point and staying up till 6:30. It was productive however as I tied a bunch of flies to pass the time.
I finally had my eyes close on me however about 6:30am and re-awoke about 7:30am. I was eagerly watching the gauge on the local limestoner when I decided to head out around 9am.
The reading was about 60CFS but it probably wasn’t going to get much more if any. The rain basically stopped and there wasn’t enough water that came down to really bring the levels up anymore where I would of hoped theyd be.
It was good to still just get out regardless. One thing I do like doing is throwing meat in high water conditions. Its a totally different type of fishing compared to tight lining nymphs all the time. The change of pace it provides and other technicalities is good.
I fished 3 different sections of stream today and rolled alot more fish then I landed. I think I actually only landed 3 fish in a few hours but rolled or got short swiped by probably 15 or so. Not sure what was going on there but using the new 2WT rod was a blast. Even bow and arrow casting some decent size streamers on it worked out ok.
