I decided to try something new today and headed into Berks county. Todays adventure was going to be different then any other normal fishing outing. This one would require a different level of dedication and commitment. Not only for the fishing, but just getting to the location to do the fishing.
It started on the top of a mountain, which ultimately ended up needing to hike down that mountain. Being fully geared up was not of any help. Waders boots, a net, a gun, yes, a gun. It wasn’t that I was worried about casting a streamer to a trout and needing to worry about getting mugged in the process like the usual areas it seems I fish. This time, i was worried about getting mauled by bears. Yes, they were present, and actively being hunted as well.
After a grueling 30 minute hike down the mountain finding my way to the water I finally arrived. It looked as beautiful as I imaged. Clear water, with pools and small rock water falls every 30 yards or so. I only fished for an hour or two and only covered probably 200 yards as getting lost or losing track of time was quite possible being the first time i was getting familiar with the area.
Luckily within that short time frame and water covered I was able to land a handful of native brookies. I will be back to this one soon, very soon and I will find the 8″ trophy that I spooked in one of the pools.
