I was itching to get out as the weather has been tolerable in the low 40’s recently. And given tomorrows rain that im saving for ideal conditions on a local Class A I decided today would be a good day to explore a new unnamed tributary to the Schuylkill. This also would give my girlfriend a chance to test using her new camera setup she got for the holidays.
The hike in wasn’t bad. In fact it was cake compared to another Class A I fished recently thats near. This pretty much had a clear trail through the forest crossing over the stream multiple times. There were tons of riffles and little rock waterfalls followed by deep pools and bends.
I was pretty much used a pink MOP fly the whole time and the brookies loved it. You can tell they dont get much if any pressure. Some of them were smashing the top as soon as the fly hit the water. To me this means ill be doing a return trip with some dries, that’ll be fun.
I did have quite the poor hookup ratio however. I must of hooked up with 20 or so fish but only landed 4 or 5. Not sure what was going on, whether it was me just not keeping a tight enough line or the hook was not penetrating well for some reason on the small fishes mouths.
