I shot over to explore a new tributary today and ended up meeting up with George. This was a new water to both of us and would allow us to get it marked off my list. We weren’t too sure what to expect but knew it should hold some fish.
The weather on the way over was gloomy and dull. Which is actually preferred when fishing for wild fish. The last thing you want is to be spooking fish off from your shadow from blue sunny skies. We did hit a snafu when the area I marked off for parking was not accessible as expected. We were able to find alternate parking although it added alot of extra time to the hike in. It took a good 45 minutes or so to get down to the water after probably a good mile or so of walking through the woods.
When we arrived the scenery was incredible. The color tones of the trees and water, the plunge pool after plunge pool never seemed to end. It wasn’t long until we started picking up fish. George was drifting a dry dropper setup and I was trying something different with a micro streamer.
George ended up with multiple fish around 11-13″ range with a few smaller as well. There was about 6 or 7 fish fish netted along with another handful spooked or rolled.
We fished about 75% of the stretch which took us a few hours and about 1.5 miles or so before calling it a day around 2PM. A few more shots of this magnificent water.
